The Karunya University (KU) provides such an environment which facilities the optimal efficiency and effectiveness for the emerging dynamic engineers and managers. The University provides the best sporting coaching facilities to groom the enormous potential lying hidden among the students. The Karunya sports complex is well known for its best facilitated grounds for various sporting disciplines. The KU has attained quite a reputation in sports activities especially among the professional institutions by winning several prestigious tournaments conducted in various levels. The competitive spirit is encouraged as the University organizes a variety of tournaments of repute, coaching camps and establishment of sporting clubs.

Sports and Facilities

The department of Physical Education of the KDU has an excellent infrastructure to meet the sporting requirements and regular physical exercise. The University has a newly constructed indoor auditorium having an area of 748.162 sq.m meant for shuttle badminton, table tennis and carom. The Evangeline fitness gym is one among the top class facilities constructed & maintained by the Department of Physical Education of KDU. This gym is installed with the latest gym equipment of the highest standard. In addition to this, the University has the following facilities.

Karunya Evangeline Memorial Tournament

The Karunya Deemed University is well known for its intensified contribution towards overall development of a professional to be placed in the highest levels. Among the various endeavors undertaken, the most significant among them all is the spectacular sporting event Karunya Evangeline Memorial Tournament (EMT). This sporting extravaganza focuses on four sporting events football, basketball, volleyball and kabaddi. The event is organized every year in the precious memory of Angel, the daughter of our beloved Chancellor of the KDU Dr.D.G.S.Dhinakaran.She had an earnest desire to see the young people of her age to be elevated to the highest levels of the society for the glory of the almighty God. She left for her eternal abode on 21-8-1986 just months before the university was established .As a token of her remembrance, every year a vast army of students under the dynamic guidance of the faculty and the alumni organize this sporting event in a superlative level. This sporting event, which is conducted as a South India level tournament, has witnessed the clash between the best sporting teams from the best universities and technical institutions. Teams from TamilNadu and all our neighboring states will vie for the top honors in the various disciplines. All the playfields are equipped with floodlights to ensure smooth conduct of the matches. A jury of referees of national repute will referee the matches. Besides this, the third and fourth prizes are also given and certificates are issued to all the participating teams. All the various facets of this tournament are skillfully co-ordinated by the organizing committee consisting of the Vice-chancellor, the Registrar and the director of Physical education.

Ms. M. Nandhini- II B.Sc Criminology won GOLD medal in 20th Sub-Junior, Junior & Youth Tamil Nadu State Wushu Championship 2023 held at Villupuram from 07.07.2023 to 09.07.2023.

Ms. S. Sanjana- II B.Sc Agri won GOLD and SILVER medals in 20th Sub-Junior, Junior & Youth Tamil Nadu State Wushu Championship 2023 held at Villupuram from 07.07.2023 to 09.07.2023.

Mr. N. Manibharathi- URK20AC1003 & Mr. P. Muhammed Yaseer- URK20CO1021 singles WINNER with cash price in Madurai Badminton League (Singles 7 Doubles) Championship 2023 held at Madurai from 27.07.2023 to 30.07.2023.

Mr. M. Aravindan- URK22AI1026 won SILVER Medal in 8th Deejion MBC Cup International Open Taekwondo Championship held at South Korea from 09.08.2023 to 17.08.2023.

KITS men Kabaddi team secured THIRD position with cash award in State Level Kabaddi (Men) Tournament 2023 held at Coimbatore from 26.08.2023 to 27.08.2023.

Mr. S. Abinesh- URK21FS1108 won SILVER medal in Run for Wheels Marathon 2023 Sittruli Foundation & Ganga Medical Centre & Hospitals Pvt held at Coimbatore on 20.08.2023.

Ms. M. Nandhini- URK22CR1032 won GOLD medal in Khelo India Women’s League Ranking (Senior, Junior and Sub- Junior) State Tournament 2023-2024 held at Velupuram from 28.08.2023 to 29.08.2023.

KITS Hockey team secured WINNERS trophy with cash award in PEGASUS 2023 State Level Inter Collegiate 5-a-side Hockey (Men) Tournament Christian Medical College held at Vellore from 13.09.2023 to 15.09.2023.

KITS Football team bagged WINNERS trophy and THIRD place in 7-a-side Football (Men) Tournament Cheran Group of Institutions held at Coimbatore on 01.10.2023.

Mr Mohammed Shukraf- URK22BM2006 won GOLD medal in Open State Level Deadift Championship 2023 Amateur Powerlifting Association held at RVS College of Arts and Science Coimbatore on 01.10.2023

KITS men Kabaddi team secured RUNNERS Trophy in 18th State Level Kabaddi (Men) Tournament organized by AFC Kabaddi Club Namakkal from 21.10.2023 to 22.10.2023

KITS Football team secured RUNNERS trophy in 5 a side Football Men Tournament 2023 organized by Viking Brother’s Club Coimbatore on 10.12.2023.

Mr. ` V. Chinnasamy - PRK23DS1001 & Mr. V. Lukendira Sastha- URK23ME1005 secured FOURTH position in All India Inter University Tournament held at SRM, Chennai from 26.12.2023 to 29.12.2023.

Ms. M. Nandhini- URK22CR1032 won GOLD medal in South Zone Khelo India in Wushu held at KPR Institute, Coimbatore from 18.01.2024 to 21.01.2024.

KITS Football team secured WINNERS trophy in National Level Colosseum 2024 held at SASTRA Institution from 14.02.2024 to 18.02.2024.

Ms. M.P. Karthiyayini - URK23CM4004 brought Laurels by winning GOLD medal in All India Inter University Wushu Championship held at Jammu and Kashmir from 13.02.2024 to 17.02.2024.
