Infrastructure Facilities
To carryout academic and research activities, there are five laboratories in the Institute to deal with hydrology, water quality testing and analysis, electrochemical, microbiological and computational studies. They are provided with sophisticated instruments and software such as Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS), Total Organic Carbon (TOC) analyser, UV spectrophotometer, table coater for membrane preparation, flow cells, automatic weather station, ocean current meter, electrical resistivity meter, hydrometerological sensors, portable spectrophotometer, ultra sonicator, laminar hood, bacteriological incubator, autoclave, iGIS software for GIS and remote sensing applications and FEFLOW for groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling.
Sponsored Projects
The Water Institute is also involved in hydrologic data collection, water sampling and field experiments. Several prototype models have been procured / fabricated for carrying out the projects. Some of the research projects being carried out in the Institute are in the areas of development of Decision Support System in management of wetlands, isotope application in evaluation the performance of percolation tanks in recharging groundwater, behavior and interaction of nanoparticles in aquatic environment, nanobio-remediation, capacitive deionisaiton in treating contaminated groundwater.
