The Department of Biotechnology organizes a technical festival " EVOGEN " every year. EVOGEN focuses on the uniqueness, ability to "IMAGINE,CREATE AND PROLIFERATE". It aims at bringing together the brightest minds in the state under a common roof. EVOGEN with its theme as "biovisioning the next decade" aims at gathering proficient professionals in an interactive setting to discuss the advancements in technology and innovations in the field of Biotechnology. Thereby making the world a better place for the future. The collusive spirit of the meeting and the natural ambiance of our University set amongst the peaceful Siruvani mountains creates an ideal environment for sharing and exchanging of knowledge.
ONLINE WORKSHOP ON MOLECULAR MODELLING

Resource person: Dr.M.Jeyakanthan, Asst.Professor in Bioinformatics, Center for Plant and Molecular Biology (CPMB), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore
The Department of Biotechnology, KITS, organized an “Online workshop on Molecular Modelling” on 28th November, 2020. Dr.Jibu Thomas, Head of the Department, gave the opening remarks and welcome address. The workshop was handled by Dr,M.Jeyakanthan who clearly explained the docking process by Autodock tool. The ligand preparation, target preparation, gird generation, validation and energy calculations was demonstrated. Nineteen participants (5 faculty members and 14 M. Tech students) from the Department of Biotechnology participated and got benefited. The resource person also clarified the doubts raised by the participants. Dr.J.Jannet Vennila, Professor in Biotechnology concluded with the vote of thanks.
